Postdoctoral fellow in the EU Horizon Europe project CPW: Cancer Prevention at Work - sociocultural barriers and facilitators of prevention programs

The Department of Business & Management (DBM) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in an ambitious large-scale EU Horizon Europe project under the supervision of Anna Schneider-Kamp. The position is located at SDU’s Campus in Odense and is vacant from 1st September or soon thereafter. The appointment will be made for an initial term of 12 months, with additional funding secured for possible extensions of the fellowship.

Job description
This fellowship will provide the unique chance to perform high-impact qualitative research in a world-leading interdisciplinary consortium aiming to improve the health and well-being of European citizens by identifying and addressing sociocultural barriers and facilitators of prevention programs.

The ideal candidate has a background in or experience with one or more of the following topics:
• Qualitative research methods / Qualitative research in health
• Quantitative research methods / Cross-cultural data analysis
• Social and health inequalities / Sociocultural determinants of health

The main tasks of the successful applicant include
• Executing a qualitative study on sociocultural barriers and facilitators of prevention programs,
• Analyzing and correlating data from quantitative and qualitative parts of the study
• Coordinating the implementation of study elements in close collaboration with international project partners, and
• Synthesizing deep insights on sociocultural mechanisms regarding the (non)adherence with screening and prevention programs.

The applicant is expected to hold a PhD degree relevant to the topics of the fellowship. Such a degree might be in (Medical) Sociology, Public Health, Medical Anthropology, Medical Humanities, or another area related to qualitative research, quantitative health research, and/or sociocultural determinants of health. Due to the international nature of the project, fluency in written and oral English is required. Experience with collaborative interdisciplinary research projects is a plus.

PhD candidates about to complete will also be considered and should attach a statement from their supervisors regarding their impending completion.

Appointment to the position requires a PhD or equivalent and potential applicants must be post-doc qualified in accordance with the Danish Ministerial order on job structure for academic staff at Danish universities.

The appointment takes place in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations for academics in the Danish state with the associated circular on the protocol on job structure for academic staff at Danish universities and the provisions for the position of postdocs as described herein.

• Detailed CV where education and work history must be month and year specific.
• Certificates/Diplomas (Master and PhD degree). If the PhD hasn’t been completed, please attach a statement from your supervisors regarding your impending completion.
• Complete list of publications, indicating which publications are most relevant for the position.
• Up to 5 of the most relevant publications. Please upload a pdf for each publication. If your publications have been co-authored, please briefly describe the extent of the co-authorship or your contribution to the individual joint publication. You can do so by using this form or you can describe the co-authorship in such a way that the committee can assess the extent of your contribution.

All non-Danish documents must be translated into English and documents should not contain a CPR number (civil registration number) – in this case, the CPR number must be crossed out.

Assessment of applications will be done under existing Appointment Order for universities.

Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee. The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the candidates to provide the necessary material.

When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the candidates will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns them. The assessment report will subsequently be forwarded to the Head of Department who will assemble an appointments committee. The appointments committee will manage and complete the job interviews, should such be conducted.

Shortlisting and tests may be used in the assessment process.
